Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has died from cancer at 48, as confirmed by a family representative. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” the statement read, thanking fans for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult period, according to HuffPost and CBS News.
The news follows Clarkson’s announcement that she was postponing her Las Vegas residency due to her ex-husband's ill health. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson stated on her Instagram, as reported by Los Angeles Times and Channel News Asia.
Blackstock had four children, two of whom he shared with Clarkson, named River and Remington, and he was previously married to Melissa Ashworth, with whom he had Savannah and Seth. The couple had a private marriage in 2013, but their divorce, filed in 2020, became contentious, eventually concluding in 2022 with several financial disputes being settled in 2024, according to India Times and Newsweek.
