At least six individuals died Thursday when a medical evacuation plane operated by AMREF Flying Doctors crashed into a residential neighborhood near Nairobi. The aircraft, a Cessna Citation XLS, had taken off from Wilson Airport and was heading to Somaliland when it crashed in Mwihoko, Kiambu County, reports India Times, TRT, and BBC.

The Kiambu County Commissioner, Henry Wafula, confirmed the deaths of four people on the plane, including crew members, and two others in a house struck by the aircraft. Additionally, two people on the ground sustained serious injuries, according to Al Jazeera, Africa News, and Africa News.

Witnesses reported the plane bursting into flames before the crash, with debris and body parts scattered around the site. Eyewitness Patricia Kombo described the moment, stating she heard a loud bang and saw a red flash before the plane crashed, as cited by BBC and TRT.

The organization is cooperating fully with aviation authorities to investigate the crash, as mentioned by Al Jazeera and India Times.
