Lando Norris achieved a thrilling victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, successfully defending his position against teammate Oscar Piastri, to narrow the championship gap to just nine points. Norris employed a strategic one-stop strategy, completing 39 laps on a single set of hard tyres, while Piastri, who opted for a two-stop plan, chased him down, ultimately finishing just 0.6 seconds behind. This win marks McLaren's 200th victory in Formula 1 and further solidifies their dominance this season with a seventh one-two finish in 14 races, according to Al Jazeera, BBC, and Reuters.

Norris started from third but dropped to fifth early in the race after a tough opening lap. However, he managed to recover by switching tactics, stating, "We weren't really planning on the one-stop but after the first lap it was kind of our only option to get back into things," according to India Times and Dawn.

Piastri mounted a fierce challenge in the closing laps, converting his fresher tyres into a substantial time gain, yet he was unable to overtake as Norris expertly managed his worn rubber, finishing the race with a mere 0.698 seconds lead. Despite the close finish, Piastri acknowledged his teammate's efforts, stating, "It was great racing. Lando did a great job," according to BBC and Reuters.

George Russell rounded out the podium in third place, finishing 20 seconds behind the McLaren duo after overtaking a struggling Charles Leclerc, who had initially started from pole position but fell to fourth due to strategy missteps and a late five-second penalty for erratic driving, as reported by Al Jazeera and India Times.

Fernando Alonso produced a strong performance, finishing fifth for Aston Martin, while rookie Gabriel Bortoleto achieved a personal best with a sixth-place finish for Sauber. Lewis Hamilton encountered difficulties, starting and finishing in 12th position. The result at the Hungaroring leaves McLaren well on top of the constructors' championship as they continue to dominate the 2025 season, according to Dawn and Reuters.
