At least six people were killed when a gunman opened fire at Or Tor Kor Market in Bangkok, including four security guards and the shooter who later committed suicide. The shooting occurred around 12:30 PM on Monday, and police are currently investigating the suspect's motive, believed to be related to past disputes with the guards, according to Channel News Asia, South China Morning Post, and Reuters.
The shooter has been identified as a 61-year-old man who previously worked as a security guard. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the suspect in video footage, donning a black T-shirt and camouflage shorts, before the rapid succession of gunfire, as reported by BBC and Newsweek. No tourists were among the casualties, and the incident has raised concerns about gun violence in Thailand.
Following the shooting, authorities have launched an investigation to determine any potential links to recent tensions at the Thailand-Cambodia border, according to reports from Bangkok Post and India Times.
