An American Airlines flight, designated Flight 3023, had to abort its takeoff at Denver International Airport due to a landing gear malfunction. The incident occurred around 2:45 PM local time, leading to an emergency evacuation where passengers exited the aircraft via emergency slides as smoke and flames were visible from the plane, according to India Times and ABC News.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the flight, operating a Boeing 737 MAX 8, reported a "possible landing gear incident" just before its departure to Miami. Although all 179 people onboard were evacuated safely, one passenger was transported to a local hospital due to minor injuries, as reported by Newsweek and Dawn.
The cause of the incident involved mechanical issues specifically associated with the plane's braking system, leading to a brake fire amidst the evacuation. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, ensuring no significant injuries occurred, according to Newsweek and India Times.
