A Russian An-24 passenger plane carrying about 50 people went missing in the Amur region on Thursday after air traffic control lost contact. The aircraft was operated by Angara airline and was nearing its destination of Tynda when communication ceased, according to Indiatimes and Reuters.
The regional authorities reported that preliminary data indicated there were 43 passengers, which included five children, along with six crew members on board, as stated by regional governor Vasily Orlov. He mentioned that "All necessary forces and means have been deployed to search for the plane," according to TRT Global and SCMP.
The local emergencies ministry estimated the number of people aboard to be somewhat lower, around 40, indicating discrepancies in the reports. As the situation develops, search efforts are continuing to locate the missing plane, according to Reuters and SCMP.
