Robin Kaye, a long-time music supervisor for American Idol, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, both 70, were discovered dead in their Encino home on July 14 during a welfare check by police. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths, as they had been missing for four days, according to Indiatimes and HuffPost.
Following the incident, police took 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian into custody, charging him with two counts of murder and residential burglary. He allegedly shot the couple after they returned home during a burglary attempt on July 10, as stated by law enforcement officials. The couple arrived home about 30 minutes after Boodarian reportedly entered the property through an unlocked door, according to information from Le Monde and ABC News.
The Los Angeles Police Department had previously received reports of a potential burglary at the Kaye and Deluca home days before they were found dead. However, officers did not enter the home at that time as they saw no immediate signs of trouble or forced entry, as detailed by reports from SFGate and Los Angeles Times.
Kaye was a respected figure within the music industry, having been part of the American Idol team since 2009. In light of her death, her colleagues have expressed their grief, stating, "Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family... and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends," as reported by HuffPost and Los Angeles Times.
