President Donald Trump criticized AT&T on social media after a major conference call with American faith leaders was marred by technical issues. He expressed frustration, stating, "AT&T is totally unable to make their equipment work properly," and urged the company's leadership to resolve the problem quickly, mentioning that "tens of thousands of people" were on the line during the call, according to Channel News Asia and India Times.
In follow-up posts, Trump suggested that AT&T "ought to get its act together" and even hinted at switching to another telecommunications provider for future calls, as this incident was not isolated, being the second occurrence of similar problems, according to India Times and The Hill.
After covering the incident, AT&T responded that they would reach out to the White House to assess the situation. In a statement, they clarified that the delays were attributed to issues with the conference call platform rather than their network capabilities. They stated, “Unfortunately, this caused the delay, and we are working diligently to better understand the issue," according to The Hill and India Times.
