Eurostar services between London, Paris, and Brussels have faced significant disruptions following two separate fatal incidents on the railway track near Lille, France. The first incident resulted in a fatality on Tuesday, while a second accident exacerbated the situation, forcing the closure of the line and continuing delays into Wednesday, according to BBC and thelocal.
In addition to the tragic accidents, more than 600 meters of cables were vandalized, further complicating the return to normal operations. French railway operator SNCF indicated the cable theft significantly impacted high-speed train traffic, resulting in redirected routes that increase travel time, as reported by lemonde and BBC.
Passengers intending to travel have been advised to postpone their journeys, with Eurostar offering free exchanges and refunds. The operator is working alongside French Authorities to address the ongoing disruptions and has stated that one track has reopened, permitting limited service while repairs continue, according to thelocal and BBC.
