Five individuals, including three flight attendants, were hospitalized following an incident involving unexpected turbulence aboard American Airlines Flight 1286 on Sunday night. The flight was en route from Miami International Airport to Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina when it hit turbulence shortly after the crew began cabin service, landing safely around 10:50 p.m., according to ABC News, CBS News, and India Times.

According to American Airlines, the flight's seatbelt sign was activated when turbulence struck. In total, three flight attendants and two passengers were taken to WakeMed Hospital for observation after reporting possible injuries, though the extent of these injuries remains unspecified. Notably, a passenger recounted chaotic moments during the turbulence, stating, "It was way quick, totally unexpected," emphasizing the professionalism of the flight crew throughout the incident as they managed a difficult situation, as reported by ABC News and India Times.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed it is investigating the turbulence incident. Reports suggest that while most individuals were treated for minor injuries, emergency services quickly responded upon landing.
