A fire erupted in the **nurses' hostel** on the third floor of the **Bharathi Hospital** building in K Pudur around **7:30 am** on Tuesday.
All **nurses** evacuated without injury; however, one trainee nurse experienced **mild discomfort** but was stabilized shortly afterwards.
The fire was caused by an **electrical short circuit** in the air conditioner, leading to significant smoke and prompting a swift response from firefighters.
Firefighters faced challenges due to **thick smoke**, breaking windows to vent and extinguish the blaze, which lasted over two hours.
Although **personal belongings** of more than 20 nurses were destroyed, fatalities were avoided, and an investigation is underway by the **K Pudur police**.
