  • Chris Brown pleads not guilty to charges stemming from a nightclub assault.
  • Allegations include grievous bodily harm during an incident in February 2023.
  • He is currently on £5 million bail and can continue his tour in the UK.

US singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges related to an alleged nightclub assault that occurred in London in February 2023. The 36-year-old appeared at Southwark Crown Court, reportedly declaring his plea by stating, “Not guilty, ma’am,” as prosecutors outlined the accusations of grievous bodily harm with intent against him, involving an alleged bottle attack on music producer Abraham Diaw. According to BBC, the incident involved Brown allegedly striking Diaw with a bottle and subsequently pursuing him for further assault.

Following his arrest in Manchester in May, Brown spent nearly a week in custody before being released on a £5 million (approximately $6.7 million) bail, which serves as a guarantee for his court appearances. He is required to live at a designated UK address, surrender his passport, and refrain from contacting Diaw or visiting the nightclub where the alleged attack took place, according to ABC News and Bangkok Post.

Chris Brown's upcoming tour has so far allowed him to maintain his performance schedule, which includes multiple dates across the UK, following a show in Cardiff just before his court appearance. Both he and co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, who faces similar charges, are set to appear again on July 11 to address additional assault allegations and are scheduled for a trial expected to begin in October 2026, as reported by ABC News and Bangkok Post.
