Amazon has officially announced that Prime Day 2025 will take place from July 8 to July 11, expanding the shopping event to four full days for the first time. This extension is aimed at providing shoppers with a greater opportunity to find deals on a wide variety of products, ranging from electronics to clothing, as well as household items. Jamil Ghani, Amazon's vice president of worldwide prime, emphasized the change by stating, "We're extending it to four days because our members have told us they just need more time to shop the deals," according to Channel News Asia, CBS News, and SFGate.
This year's Prime Day marks a significant change from its traditional one or two-day format, reflecting Amazon's aim to enhance its competitive edge in the retail market, especially against other retailers. Last year's event reported sales exceeding $14.2 billion, demonstrating a robust 11% growth year-over-year. Independent sellers participated actively, with more than 200 million items sold during the two-day sale period, according to CBS News and Channel News Asia.
During Prime Day 2025, shoppers can expect considerable discounts on a wide array of products, including electronics, school supplies, and more. Notably, those aged 18 to 24 may take advantage of discounted Prime memberships, which could cost $7.49 per month or $69 annually after a free trial period. In addition to Prime Day, Amazon has begun offering pre-sales and discounts in various categories leading up to the event. Deals can include small appliances and household items, ensuring that there are plenty of options for shoppers, reports SFGate and Channel News Asia.
