Meta Platforms is reportedly in talks to invest more than $10 billion in artificial intelligence startup Scale AI, according to Bloomberg, channelnewsasia, and SCMP.
The deal's terms are not yet finalized and could change, as Scale AI declined to comment and Meta did not respond outside business hours, according to trtglobal and channelnewsasia.
Founded in 2016, Scale AI specializes in data labeling services essential for training machine learning models and is supported by major players like Nvidia and Amazon, as mentioned by SCMP and Bloomberg.
This investment would mark Meta’s largest commitment to an external AI venture, a shift from its previous reliance on in-house research, as highlighted by SCMP. Scale AI has benefitted from the surge in generative AI demand, with projected revenue growth to $2 billion by 2025 according to SCMP.
