The Netherlands is set to open an archive containing records on 425,000 individuals accused of collaborating with the Nazis during World War II.
This archive, maintained by the central archives of special jurisdiction courts, will begin accessible public visits starting Thursday.
For the first three months, researchers and relatives will have digital access to a quarter of the database on-site in The Hague.
While some family members feel uncomfortable with the unveiling, others believe it is crucial for confronting and understanding the nation’s wartime past.
The initial plan to publish the archive online was halted due to privacy concerns, requiring alternative methods for access.
