  • Collision between a tour bus and a disabled SUV occurred early Sunday in Los Angeles.
  • At least one person was killed, while 32 others sustained injuries.
  • The crash left two people in critical condition, with many others suffering from minor to moderate injuries.

A tour bus and a Nissan S.U.V. were involved in a crash on the 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights, California, early on Sunday morning, which resulted in at least one fatality and 32 injuries. The accident occurred just after 5 a.m., with the driver of the SUV being the sole occupant who tragically perished after the vehicle caught fire following the collision, according to The New York Times and ABC News.

The tour bus was transporting 63 passengers at the time of the incident, which occurred when the bus collided with the rear of the disabled SUV that had stalled in traffic. Officer Zachary Salazar of the California Highway Patrol stated that the impact caused the SUV to become engulfed in flames, trapping the driver inside, according to SFGate and ABC News.

Following the crash, 32 individuals from the bus were transported to hospitals, including two passengers who were in critical condition. Eyewitness accounts revealed chaos in the aftermath, with passengers reportedly “begging for mercy.” The bus driver, Sui Sheng Du, reported that the bus veered across multiple lanes after the impact, crashing into a guardrail, according to The New York Times and SFGate.
