Former Australia cricketer Stuart MacGill has avoided jail time after being found guilty of participating in the supply of cocaine. He was sentenced to a 22-month intensive corrections order and assigned 495 hours of community service instead, according to Channel News Asia and Reuters.

MacGill, who pleaded not guilty, confessed to using cocaine and introducing his brother-in-law to a drug dealer. Prosecutors charged that the pair attempted to arrange a deal for A$330,000 worth of cocaine; however, MacGill insisted that his role was solely that of an introducer in a Sydney restaurant, according to BBC.

The case included an investigation into MacGill's abduction, where he claimed to have been taken to a remote location, beaten, and threatened with a firearm. Following this, police arrested several individuals connected to the incident, highlighting MacGill’s harrowing experience, as detailed by Channel News Asia, Reuters, and BBC.
