Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that at least 19 Ukrainian drones were shot down during an attack on the city, prompting the suspension of flights at several Moscow airports. This marks the second consecutive night of drone strikes targeting the Russian capital, coming just days before its Victory Day celebrations, expected to be attended by several foreign leaders, including China's Xi Jinping. Despite the attacks, there were no reported casualties or significant property damage, according to official sources South China Morning Post, Reuters, and Anadolu Agency.
On the night of the attacks, the Russian defense ministry stated that a total of 105 drones targeted various regions in Russia, with air defenses successfully intercepting numerous incoming threats. Mayor Sobyanin confirmed that drone debris caused temporary disruptions on major highways in the south of Moscow. As the situation escalated, reports indicated that drone strikes in other regions, including Voronezh and Penza, also resulted in the interception of additional Ukrainian drones.
