A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody as the main suspect in a triple shooting that occurred on April 29 in Uppsala, Sweden. Prosecutor Andreas Nyberg confirmed that alongside him, two accomplices have also been detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting the crimes. The police have not yet confirmed if the shooting is connected to organized crime, although fears of gang violence have emerged among locals, according to Channel News Asia and India Times.
The shooting resulted in the deaths of three men, aged 15 to 20, at a hair salon in broad daylight. Reports have indicated that at least one of the victims may have ties to organized crime, while Uppsala is known as the base for two notorious rival gang leaders, Ismail Abdo and Rawa Majid. The ongoing investigation aims to address the rising violence linked to gang activity in Sweden's drug trade, as noted by The Local and Channel News Asia.
Nyberg emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation, stating, "It's about building a solid and rigorous investigation, so that those who committed offences are ultimately prosecuted." The recent incidents follow a pattern of escalating violence in Uppsala, particularly after a revenge murder linked to gang disputes earlier this year, according to The Local and Channel News Asia.
