In the latest edition of the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, Indian cricketers Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana have been honored as the world's leading cricketers. Bumrah received the men's accolade following an outstanding year where he was instrumental in India's T20 World Cup victory, noted for his pivotal role, as the publication stated, "their success depended largely, if not entirely, on one factor: whether or not he had the ball," highlighting his dominance across all formats, according to Reuters.
On the women's side, Mandhana claimed her award after a remarkable season that featured five centuries, including four in one-day internationals. Additionally, she led her team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, to its first Women's Premier League title, showcasing her prowess and leadership on the field, as reported by Channel News Asia.
Joining Bumrah and Mandhana in recognition were England cricketers Gus Atkinson, Jamie Smith, and Sophie Ecclestone, who were named among Wisden's five Cricketers of the Year, alongside Liam Dawson and Dan Worrall. Ecclestone stands out as the first English woman to receive this recognition since 2019, achieving significant milestones in her career, according to BBC.
