This shipment consisted of approximately 6,600 tonnes of wheat, a vital commodity as Syria has largely depended on overland imports from neighboring countries this year. The newly established Syrian administration, led by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, aims to bolster the country’s agricultural needs by accelerating wheat procurement efforts.
