  • Haley Joel Osment apologized for using antisemitic slurs during an arrest.
  • He expressed horror over his behavior caught on police bodycam footage.
  • Osment faces charges for possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct.

Actor Haley Joel Osment has publicly apologized for using antisemitic slurs against a police officer during his recent arrest at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. The actor, known for his role in "The Sixth Sense," acknowledged his misconduct in a statement after bodycam footage of the incident was released, stating he had been in a "blackout" during the encounter, according to HuffPost.

In the footage, Osment is heard calling the arresting officer a "f— Nazi" and uttering a four-letter slur aimed at Jewish people, claiming, "I've been kidnapped by a f— Nazi," according to SFGate. He later expressed regret, emphasizing that he was horrified by his actions and had "no excuse" for the language he used.

Osment stated, "From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage - I've let the Jewish community down and it devastates me," in his apology. The actor's emotional turmoil, heightened by personal losses, was also a theme in his statement, reflecting on the impact of those events on his mental state, as reported by Los Angeles Times.

This incident marks another run-in with law enforcement for Osment, who has faced multiple legal troubles in the past, including a 2006 drunk driving charge and a 2018 incident involving American Airlines staff. He was arrested on April 8 on charges of public intoxication and possession of cocaine, and is scheduled for arraignment in July at the Mono County Superior Court, according to HuffPost.
