Mbappe and Rudiger Cleared to Face Arsenal in Champions League After Fines for Misconduct

Credited from: ALJAZEERA

Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger have been cleared to participate in the upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal, following a recent ruling by UEFA. Although both players are eligible to play, they have received fines for their alleged misconduct during postgame celebrations in their previous match against Atletico Madrid.

UEFA's investigation focused on the celebrations Saturday after Real Madrid's victory over Atletico on penalties. Video footage revealed Mbappe and Rudiger engaging in conduct deemed inappropriate, leading to the disciplinary decisions that included a suspended one-game ban for each, subject to a probationary period of one year. Mbappe was fined 30,000 euros (approx. $33,000), while Rudiger's fine amounted to 40,000 euros (approx. $44,000) as stated by Channel News Asia.

In addition to Mbappe and Rudiger, Spain midfielder Dani Ceballos was also fined 20,000 euros (approx. $22,000), yet he faced no suspension. Notably, Vinicius Junior, another player involved in the incident, faced no penalties

as confirmed by Al Jazeera.

The first leg of the quarter-finals is scheduled for April 8 at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, while the return leg will take place at the Santiago Bernabéu on April 16.
