  • Investigation reveals that Corsette stayed with the couple before her death, which is believed to have occurred between February 20 and 24.
  • Evidence indicates her remains were disposed of in a dumpster in Hillsborough County.
  • The incident underscores the dangers associated with meeting strangers online.

A Florida couple, Steven Gress, 35, and Michelle Brandes, 37, have been charged with first-degree murder following the alleged kidnapping and dismemberment of 16-year-old Miranda Corsette. Authorities report that the tragic events began when Corsette was lured through a social media app, leading to an in-person meeting on February 14. After this initial encounter, she returned to Gress's home the following day, where she remained until her death.

Police confirmed that Corsette was reported missing to the Gulfport Police on February 24. A witness provided critical information regarding a potential kidnapping on March 6, prompting a swift investigation. Law enforcement believes that Corsette was killed after a violent argument between her and the couple over missing jewelry, stating she experienced severe abuse from February 20 to 24.Source

According to the St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway, authorities uncovered that after Corsette's death, Gress transported her body to a Largo residence, owned by Brandes' family. They discovered evidence at this location indicating that the dismemberment had occurred there, subsequently leading Gress to dump the remains in a dumpster in Hillsborough County.

The police statement clarified that they have located the dumpster and the investigation is ongoing. Gress, already incarcerated on unrelated charges, faces additional charges for kidnapping and murder, while Brandes surrendered to authorities on the morning of March 7. Local law enforcement has described the case as “horrific,” emphasizing their commitment to delivering justice for Miranda Corsette.Source
