Emma Raducanu, the former US Open champion, has confirmed her participation in the upcoming WTA tournament at Indian Wells, set to begin on March 5. This marks her first Tour appearance since a troubling incident during the Dubai Tennis Championships, where a man exhibited "fixated behaviour" towards her.

During her second-round match against Karolina Muchova in Dubai, Raducanu was visibly unsettled when security led the man out of the stands. She resumed playing after a brief pause, managing to rally back from a 4-0 deficit in the set to push the match to a tiebreak, ultimately losing 7-6, 6-4 according to Reuters.

Following the incident, Dubai Police detained the individual, but Raducanu opted to drop the charges. The WTA has banned him from participating in any tournaments and pledged to ensure Raducanu's safety and well-being, providing her with enhanced security measures at Indian Wells.

Raducanu, currently ranked 55th in the world, has faced challenges with form and fitness since her historic US Open victory in 2021. As she prepares to return to competitive play, the preparations focus on her well-being and protection while competing at a major event in California.
