Jane Doe Drops Lawsuit Against Jay-Z and Diddy Alleging Rape at Age 13

Credited from: ABCNEWS

An anonymous Alabama woman has officially dropped her civil lawsuit against Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs, which alleged that the two raped her when she was only 13 years old. This lawsuit, which was initially filed in December, accused the two hip-hop stars of attacking her at a house party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty. According to court filings submitted in New York federal court, the case has been dismissed "with prejudice," meaning it cannot be refiled in the future.

Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, expressed relief at the dismissal, stating, "The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere." His attorney, Alex Spiro, emphasized that Jay-Z stood firm against the accusations, saying he "never settled" and "never paid 1 red penny" to the accuser, highlighting that the falsehoods had been publicly refuted.

The lawsuit was originally filed against Combs in October before Jay-Z was added as a defendant in December. It alleged that the woman was lured by a driver for Combs to a dangerous situation where the assaults occurred. Despite the serious nature of the claims, both Jay-Z and Combs have denied any wrongdoing. In a separate statement, Combs' legal team declared, "For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity," calling the allegations baseless.

Legal representatives for the defendants indicated that the dismissal of this case, along with Jay-Z's strong denial, reflects their belief that many of the other lawsuits Combs faces are equally unfounded. Combs himself remains incarcerated in Brooklyn, awaiting trial on federal charges related to sex trafficking while also facing numerous other sexual assault lawsuits filed by attorney Tony Buzbee. The attorney, who currently represents over 150 individuals alleging sexual abuse against Combs, has been criticized by both stars as being more focused on media hype than legitimate legal claims.

Though the dismissal marks a potential victory for Jay-Z and Diddy, the ongoing legal battles surrounding Combs continue. While this lawsuit was among many targeting his reputation, the claim against both rappers was unique due to its high-profile nature.
