More than 1 million Igloo coolers are facing recall due to significant safety hazards, including reports of fingertip injuries and amputations.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that injuries have occurred from the 90-quart Flip & Tow rolling coolers due to a tow handle design flaw which can pinch users' fingertips against the cooler, posing serious risks of amputation and other injuries.

Reports indicate at least 12 incidents of serious injuries, including bone fractures and lacerations, prompting the recall of approximately 1.06 million coolers in the U.S., as well as 47,000 in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico. The coolers were sold from January 2019 to January 2025 at major retail outlets like Target, Costco, and on platforms like Amazon.

Customers are urged to stop using these coolers immediately and can reach out to Igloo at 888-943-5182 or via email at igloo90qt@sedgwick.com for a free replacement handle. The company has emphasized consumer safety as a top priority and is working to improve product standards.

The affected coolers, which retail between $80 and $140, can be identified by their model numbers and manufacturing details found on the bottom of the units.

For detailed information about the recall, consumers can visit the official Los Angeles Times article.
