North Korean state media sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to take over Gaza and relocate its Palestinian residents, labeling the plan as both ludicrous and extortionate. The commentary from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) expressed that the hopes for safety and peace among Palestinians are being all but erased by this controversial proposal.
The report added that “the world is now boiling like a porridge pot” in response to Trump’s shock announcement, which envisions transforming Gaza into a luxury enclave touted as a “Riviera of the Middle East.” In addition, the KCNA commentary criticized the U.S. for recent claims to territorial takeovers, mentioning the Panama Canal and Greenland, alongside an advocacy for renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, suggesting these actions reflect a blatant disregard for international sovereignty.
The commentary further stated, “The U.S. should wake up from its anachronistic delusion,” insisting that the administration cease its acts of encroachment that undermine global dignity and sovereignty. North Korea's remarks come in the context of a complex relationship between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who previously engaged in unprecedented summits during Trump's first term.
Although Trump expressed intentions to reconnect with Kim, North Korean media has remained largely silent regarding Trump's second term, while continuing to frame the U.S. as a significant security threat, especially in the context of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, which they blame on U.S. involvement and policy.
