  • FDA recalls 2 million baked goods due to listeria contamination risk.
  • The recall affects products including donuts and coffee rolls from Dunkin’.
  • FGF Brands initiated the recall after potential contamination sources were identified.
  • The recall has been classified as Class II as defined by the FDA.
  • Typical listeria symptoms can lead to serious health complications for vulnerable groups.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a significant recall involving approximately 2 million baked goods, including various doughnuts and coffee rolls sold at Dunkin’. The recall stems from concerns regarding potential contamination with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious health issues, particularly for vulnerable populations such as older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The manufacturer, FGF Brands, which distributes baked goods across the U.S. and Canada, made this voluntary recall public after identifying risks associated with products produced before December 13, 2024. The FDA initiated the recall on January 7, 2025, later upgrading it to Class II. This classification indicates that while the risk of severe health consequences is deemed remote, exposure to the affected products may lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health outcomes. The specific source of the listeria contamination has not been identified, and as of now, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products. Included in the recall are various types of doughnuts—including chocolate, raspberry, and Bavarian flavors—as well as French crullers, éclairs, and coffee rolls. Consumers are advised to check their supplies for products that may fall under this recall, as the potential for contamination poses significant health risks. Particularly, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, listeria is among the leading causes of death attributed to foodborne illnesses in the United States, with an estimated 1,600 infections and 260 resulting deaths each year. FGF Brands and Dunkin’ are both encouraging customers to remain calm as no doughnuts currently available on the market have tested positive for listeria. For more information about the recalled products, customers can check the full list on the FDA website or contact FGF Brands directly via phone at 905-761-3333 or through email at [email protected].
