The incident unfolded approximately 30 seconds after the Learjet 55 departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, erupting into a fireball that engulfed several homes in the vicinity and shook the ground beneath, as witnesses described a scene resembling an explosion.

The jet, which was on its way to Tijuana, Mexico, after making a stop in Springfield, Missouri, had been tasked with transporting the child who was receiving treatment in Philadelphia for a serious medical condition.
