Wegmans Food Markets has announced a voluntary recall of its frozen chicken nuggets sold in several states after reports surfaced of bone fragments in some packages. The recall affects 46-ounce plastic packages of “Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat,” which were produced on August 26, 2024, and have a best-if-used-by date of August 26, 2025. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on January 27 to inform consumers about the issue, highlighting that the product has not been available for purchase for some time, prompting fears that some customers could still have them stored in their freezers.

The recall impacts products distributed in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Wegmans was alerted to the issue after receiving multiple consumer complaints regarding bone fragments found in the chicken nuggets, leading to the alert from FSIS. Although there have been no confirmed reports of injuries from consuming the recalled chicken nuggets, the agency is urging customers who may have purchased them to dispose of the product or return it to Wegmans for a full refund.

Customers can check the back of the packaging for the UPC code 0-77890-25210-9 and the establishment number P-33944, located inside the USDA mark of inspection. For more detailed information, consumers are encouraged to contact Wegmans Customer Service at 1-855-934-3663.
