Wegmans Food Markets has announced a recall of its popular frozen chicken nuggets following multiple consumer reports indicating the presence of bone fragments in the product. The USA Today report states that this public health alert was issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on January 27, 2025. The recall specifically affects 46-ounce plastic packages of “Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat.”
The affected products were produced on August 26, 2024, and have a best-if-used-by date of August 26, 2025. While the nuggets are no longer available for sale, the FSIS is concerned that many customers may still have these items frozen in their homes. Customers are urged not to consume the nuggets and to either dispose of them or return them to Wegmans for a full refund. For further assistance, Wegmans has provided a customer service hotline at 1-855-934-3663.
The distribution of the recalled chicken nuggets spans several states, including Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The decision to alert consumers comes after the company received numerous complaints about the bone fragments, as reported by CBS News and Salon. Although no injuries have been confirmed related to this incident, the potential risk has prompted swift action from the grocery chain.
As part of its ongoing commitment to food safety, Wegmans continues to encourage customers to be vigilant and report any issues they may encounter with their products.
