Tyler Sabapathy, an 18-year-old Temple University student, died after a tragic fall while celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles' NFC Championship victory. The incident occurred on Sunday night when Sabapathy climbed a pole in Center City, falling onto the sidewalk and suffering critical injuries.
According to CBS News, he was a freshman majoring in exercise and sport science at Temple's College of Public Health and was actively involved in the school's gymnastics club. He was known for his impressive athletic achievements, earning over 120 medals throughout his gymnastics career.
Witnesses reported that Sabapathy slipped and fell after climbing to the top of the pole, striking his head on the ground. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries two days later, as confirmed by AP News.
Temple University expressed its condolences, stating, “The loss of a promising young man is both tragic and traumatic,” highlighting the impact of this loss on the school community.
