A long-lost song from Tina Turner, titled "Hot For You Baby," has been unearthed and is set to captivate fans as it debuts on UK's BBC Radio 2. The track was originally recorded for her landmark 1984 album, "Private Dancer," and was presumed lost for decades.
Turner's Private Dancer, now regarded as a revolutionary work in music history, helped transform her career after she escaped a tumultuous marriage to musician Ike Turner. Released in May 1984, the album sold over 20 million copies and bagged three Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year for "What’s Love Got to Do With It."
The rediscovered track, which will receive its first airplay on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, was initially recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood and produced by John Carter. Written by Australian songwriters George Young and Harry Vanda, "Hot For You Baby" adds another layer to the storied legacy of Tina Turner's career, illuminating the vibrant energy of the 1980s pop-rock sound.
Fans can look forward to the 40th Anniversary Edition of "Private Dancer," which is scheduled for release on March 21. This new collection will also feature instrumental tracks like “Let’s Stay Together” and various remixes, plus live performances from her iconic concerts, including appearances by legends like David Bowie and Bryan Adams. Mark Goodier from BBC noted, "To have something new to hear from Tina Turner is a treat for fans of all generations.”
