A fascinating incident occurred in July when a doorbell camera on a Canadian home captured both video and sound of a meteorite striking Earth, landing directly on a couple's walkway. Laura Kelly and her partner were taken aback upon returning from an evening stroll to find their walkway scattered with dust and odd debris.
According to the Meteoritical Society, the couple checked their security footage and observed a bright object crashing against their entrance, creating a cloud of smoke followed by a crackling sound. They promptly reported the discovery to the University of Alberta’s Meteorite Reporting System.

The meteorite in question, officially registered recently, has been named Charlottetown, after the city in eastern Canada where it made landfall. The incident is particularly remarkable as it is believed to be the first recorded instance capturing both the striking of a meteorite and its sound.
