A Hungarian passenger on a high-speed train in Germany remarkably survived after clinging to the outside of the train for 30 kilometers. The incident occurred when the 40-year-old man, who had boarded the ICE train in Munich without a valid ticket, took a smoking break at a station in Ingolstadt and missed the train's departure. Unable to board in time, he jumped onto a bracket between two carriages as the train accelerated to speeds approaching 282 km/h (175 mph).

Witnesses quickly alerted the authorities as he gripped cables for dear life while the train traveled toward Nuremberg. Federal police were able to arrange for the train to make an unscheduled stop at Kinding, Upper Bavaria, where they arrested the man shortly thereafter. According to police reports, he had opted for this hazardous act because he did not want to be separated from his luggage which remained on board the train (BBC).

Despite the risk, the man was "amazingly" unharmed, and police confirmed he would face charges for "an act disruptive to operations" alongside an investigation into financial impropriety due to fare evasion. Authorities have reiterated calls for public safety, emphasizing the dangers associated with attempting such reckless stunts on trains (The Guardian).
