MILAN, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Texas-based private equity firm Presidio Investors has officially completed the acquisition of struggling Italian soccer club Hellas Verona from entrepreneur Maurizio Setti, as announced by the club on its website. This move positions Verona as the eighth Serie A team owned by American investors, joining others such as Inter Milan and AC Milan. In a statement, managing partner Christian Puscasiu shared, "We’ve worked hard these past months to achieve this milestone, and are excited to take our first steps in this historic city, leading a club that is an integral part of Verona and its people" ([Reuters](http://reuters.com/sports/soccer/us-presidio-investors-takes-over-italys-hellas-verona-2025-01-15/)).
While the financial specifics were not disclosed, sources suggest that the valuation of the club stood at approximately €120 to €130 million ($123 to $134 million), accounting for debts and other variables. Hellas Verona currently sits just above the relegation zone with significant challenges ahead, particularly with an upcoming match against Lazio.
Maurizio Setti will serve as a senior adviser for football operations to facilitate the transition, while Italo Zanzi of AS Roma fame has been appointed to the role of executive chairman. Zanzi underscored his commitment to respecting Verona's rich heritage and aims to "strengthen its operations in all areas." This transition comes as part of a broader trend of increasing American presence in Italian soccer with clubs like Bologna also under foreign ownership ([AP News](https://apnews.com/article/verona-presidio-americans-serie-a-641f3b2e95065212a502e9ec81726303)).
