Los Angeles authorities recently apprehended an additional 29 individuals, including a suspect dressed in firefighter gear. The arrests took place in fire zones, with 25 individuals detained in the Eaton area and four in the Palisades region. Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell remarked, "We have people who will go to all ends to do what they do," referencing the burglar clad as a firefighter.
Officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and LAPD reported that one individual driving a truck in the Palisades was arrested, with others found inside the vehicle. These men falsely claimed affiliation with a local fire station, but a swift verification with the fire department confirmed their lack of connection.
Sheriff Robert Luna noted that most suspects arrested were not locals, revealing that some were found in possession of firearms and drugs. This series of arrests follows about 20 similar detentions from the previous week. In response to the ongoing situation, curfews have been established in the fire zones, while the National Guard and police continue patrolling these affected areas.
