Six people have tragically lost their lives following an explosion caused by a propane-butane cylinder at a restaurant in the city of Most, northwest Czech Republic, emergency services confirmed on Sunday. The incident, which occurred late Saturday night, also left eight others injured and necessitated the evacuation of approximately 30 individuals from the establishment and nearby buildings, according to the Czech fire rescue service.
Initial reports from witnesses suggest that the cause of the explosion was a heater overturning, which ignited the fire. Interior Minister Vit Rakusan noted in an interview with Czech Radio that the propane-butane heater likely tipped over in the restaurant's front garden. Remarkably, fire brigade teams managed to rescue one seriously injured patron trapped in a bathroom during the chaos. At the time of the explosion, around 20 guests were present in the restaurant, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
