Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede expressed his willingness to engage in discussions with President-elect Trump regarding his ambitions for the U.S. to acquire Greenland.
During a press conference, Egede stated they have not been in contact but affirmed, “we are ready to talk.”
Trump has labeled U.S. control of Greenland as “an absolute necessity” for national security, hinting at possible military actions to achieve this.
Both Egede and Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen recently met in Copenhagen, where Frederiksen expressed interest in meeting with Trump.
Frederiksen reiterated that “Greenland is not for sale,” emphasizing the island’s desire for autonomy and preference to remain Greenlandic.
