Russia and Ukraine executed a substantial prisoner exchange, returning at least 150 individuals from each side before the New Year.
The swap occurred with the assistance of the United Arab Emirates, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announcing the return of 189 Ukrainians.
Among those returning, there are 87 soldiers from various branches of the military and two civilians.
This was the 11th exchange of the year, totaling 1,358 Ukrainian prisoners returned, although many more are still held in Russia.
Returning prisoners reported atrocities during captivity, including torture and neglect, highlighting the need for continuous efforts in securing prisoner releases.
