Authorities in **Brandenburg** enforced a **ban on animal transports** after foot-and-mouth disease was confirmed in a buffalo herd.
This is the first outbreak in **Germany** in over **35 years**, with three buffalo found dead near **Berlin**.
A **72-hour moratorium** on transporting various livestock, including cows and pigs, has been implemented.
Both zoos in **Berlin** have closed as a precaution, despite the virus not posing a threat to humans.
In addition, around **200 pigs** will be slaughtered as a safety measure in a nearby farm. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of infection.
