Flags will be flown at half-mast during President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration to honor former President Jimmy Carter, who died at 100.
The U.S. Department of Affairs mandates flags remain at half-staff for 30 days following the death of a president or former president.
Flags will stay at half-staff until January 28, a week after Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
Trump expressed condolences on Truth Social, noting the significant challenges Carter faced during his presidency.
Carter will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol and have a state funeral before burial in Plains, Georgia, according to the Carter Center.
