DENVER (AP) — In a remarkable display of talent, Nikola Jokic and Russell Westbrook made NBA history on Friday night, as they became the first pair of teammates to record triple-doubles in the same game multiple times within a single season. The Denver Nuggets triumphed over the Brooklyn Nets with a score of 124-105, marking a significant achievement in both of their careers.

Jokic led the charge with a spectacular performance, tallying 35 points, 15 assists, and 12 rebounds, resulting in his 15th triple-double of the current season. Westbrook also shone brightly, contributing 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, achieving his 202nd career triple-double, the most in NBA history. "Wow. That’s pretty crazy. We’re watching history, folks,” said Denver coach Michael Malone, highlighting the duo's exceptional feat.

This impressive match was not an isolated event; Jokic and Westbrook had previously accomplished this together on December 30 against Utah, where Jokic recorded 36 points and Westbrook added 16 points. Notably, this marks the second time they have both achieved 25-point triple-doubles in the regular season.

In this game, the Nuggets consistently maintained control, launching a pivotal second-quarter run that solidified their lead. Even as the Nets managed to close the gap to five points in the fourth quarter, Yokić returned to the floor and quickly contributed crucial baskets. As Westbrook noted, “Being able to do that allows me to be able to make guys around me better,” demonstrating his leadership and commitment to the team's success.

The Nets have faced ongoing challenges, now losing twelve of their last fifteen games, despite Ben Simmons returning to action with 10 points and 6 assists. Brooklyn’s struggle continues as they navigate injuries and roster changes, complicating their pursuit of a turnaround.

Looking ahead, the Nuggets are set to face off against the Dallas Mavericks in their next two games, while the Nets continue their six-game road trip, now headed for a match-up against the Utah Jazz.
