A police constable, aged 28, married a 25-year-old woman on Thursday, just a day after she accused him of raping her "for the second time" and making death threats.
The marriage occurred hours after the survivor lodged a complaint, claiming the constable pressured her to withdraw a previous sexual assault case.
The ongoing case under IPC section 376 (rape) is currently being processed in a Mainpuri court.
Reports suggest the couple may have reached an agreement during discussions, although the woman’s family pressure remains unclear.
Following the wedding, the survivor expressed uncertainty about their future, while the constable claimed it was a misunderstanding and that they resolved their issues.
