The Education University of Hong Kong (EdU) is reviewing its notifications process for non-local students after discovering that 934 students failed to submit their visa information.
The Immigration Department expressed serious concern regarding this significant number of visa non-compliance.
EdU plans to establish a task force led by the vice-president to optimize the reminder mechanisms for visa document submission.
Students are required to submit their visa details by January 17, or they risk having their student IDs and access to facilities revoked.
The department noted that individuals violating visa conditions could face severe penalties, including jail time and hefty fines.
