Heath Clay, a city council member from Summerfield, found voting in North Carolina to be secure due to new ID requirements.
Despite his confidence, Clay learned that Jefferson Griffin, the GOP candidate for the State Supreme Court, is attempting to nullify over 60,000 votes.
The final count declared Justice Allison Riggs, the Democratic incumbent, the winner by just 734 votes amid over 5.5 million ballots cast.
Griffin and supporters are targeting ballots from early and mail-in voting, which could potentially change the election outcome.
The struggle reflects broader tensions within North Carolina as voters and officials navigate controversies around election integrity.
