Netflix recently released The Breakthrough, a miniseries based on a notorious double murder case from 2004 in Linköping, Sweden.
The series highlights the resilience of victims' families and the investigative persistence leading to a resolution after 16 years.
Forensic genealogy played a crucial role in identifying the suspect, Daniel Nyqvist, marking a first in European criminal investigations.
The Breakthrough focuses on the human aspects of the tragedy, shifting the spotlight from the perpetrator to the victims and investigators.
Directed by Lisa Siwe, the series blends crime thriller elements with deep emotional narratives, raising questions about privacy in forensic methods.
