Four cinemas operated by the major chain Golden Harvest are ceasing ticket sales from Saturday, indicating anticipated closures.
The affected locations include The Sky at Olympian City, MegaBox, StagE, and Galaxy Plaza.
This closure is part of a broader trend, with nine cinemas shutting down in 2024 alone, including previous closures by Golden Harvest.
Despite a slight increase in ticket sales during the holiday season, overall cinema attendance has decreased, with many opting for streaming platforms.
Residents express their disappointment; many shared fond memories of these cinemas, highlighting changes in audience habits post-pandemic.
