Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed direct flights to Europe after the European Union lifted a four-year ban imposed due to safety standards.
The inaugural flight to Paris was launched with Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif officiating the ceremony.
This ban had been in place since 2020 due to safety concerns following a tragic plane crash that resulted in 97 fatalities.
The cancellation of operations resulted in significant financial losses for PIA, estimated at $150 million annually.
Asif hinted at plans to expand PIA's European operations to include more destinations in the future.
